Current Report: March 10, 2010
Rainy Lake and International Falls.
The walleye bite is strongest early and late in the day, and the areas with structure north of Dryweed Island have been very popular spots. The best depth is around 38 feet and jigs and minnows continue to do the trick. There have been some reports of crappie being caught, but not as many as earlier in the season. Big pike are the prize now, they are pretty aggressive and are hanging near the mouths of shallower bays like Black Bay or Cranberry Bay. A large minnow is always a good idea when seeking a bruiser northern.
Rainy Lake is a world-class fishery.
There are 940 miles of shoreline with another 635 miles around 1,600 islands. Rainy Lake is regarded as one of the most scenic fishing vacation destinations in the Midwest.
