Camping in Voyageurs National Park
Camp by motorboat, houseboat or canoe in beautiful Voyageurs National Park at any of the 200 water accessible campsites. Campsites, free of charge and on a first come, first-served basis, offer picnic tables, fire rings and tent pads to name a few items. Permit required (free). Call (218) 283-6600 or (218) 286-5258..
Boat Cruises -Several different boat cruises. See bald eagles, osprey, loons and other wildlife commonly seen.

Naturalist-Guided Activities
Kabetogama, Ash River and Rainy Lake visitor centers offer canoe voyages, nature walks and a “Kids Explore Voyageurs” program Call (218) 286-5258.
Kettle Falls Experience
Historic Kettle Falls Hotel, in existence since 1913, is accessible only by boat or ferry service. Experience the crooked floor in the bar, good food or a scenic view from the dam which controls the lake levels. Your stay, whether it is a day or weekend, will be a pleasurable experience. Fishing
Walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike and crappie are all prized game fish in Rainy Lake, and it is an excellent fishery. An update is posted weekly at http://www.rainylake.org
Museums
The Koochiching Museum and Bronko Nagurski Annex are open daily and admissions vary. The museums are located in Smokey Bear Park on 6th Avenue at 3rd Street. 283 4316
Beaches
The International Falls City Beach and Ranier Beach are great places to catch some sun and take a swim, both are accessible by taking county road 20 through the village of Ranier.
Fall Colors

Hunting
Koochiching County is a popular area for Bear Hunting and there are guide services available. Small game season provides an opportunity to hunt ruffed and spruce grouse, plus it’s possible to hunt woodcock waterfowl and whitetail deer. What About Winter?
Snow brings the opportunity to snowmobile, cross country ski or snowshoe to experience the northland beauty. Rainy Lake is great for ice fishing, especially with portable gear, however, there are ice roads plowed in many areas for larger ice houses and several resorts offer ice fishing packages.
Icebox Days in January each year offers quite a variety of family oriented fun events and features the “Freeze Yer Gizzard Blizzard Run” an over 30 year old race event that draws well over 200 hardy runners each year. For the truly hardy, the Arrowhead 135 starts in International Falls and ends 135 miles away near Tower. Participants can bike, hike or ski the trail and need to prove they are prepared for this event.
Wildlife Observation
Enjoy the sightings of such wildlife animals as the bald eagles, osprey, loons, gulls, blue herons, moose, beaver, wolves, deer and more.
Paper Mill Tours
Boise Paper offers interesting hour-long tours June through August, Monday through Friday, 8:30am., 11:00am., and1:30pm., No Admission fee, no children under 10 and reservations are appreciated. 218 285 5011.
Wildlife Museum
Located at Sportsman’s Service on highway 53, the exhibits include over 100 birds and 50 animals. Admission is $1.00 adults and .50 children.
Falls Country Club
An 18-hole championship course situated on the Rainy River with spectacular views into Canada. PGA golf professional, pro shop, practice range, bar and grill. Information, 218 283 4491.
